The Best Collapsible Water Bottles of 2024

Whether you’re trekking through the wilderness or going on a relaxing stroll through the city, it’s essential that you remain well hydrated.

Reusable water bottles (especially insulated ones), however, are often bulky and heavy, and that can be a problem if you prefer to travel light or don’t want to carry a large bag during your daily outings.

So, what’s the solution?

Instead of abandoning your reusable water bottle, you might want to consider investing in a collapsible model made either of silicone or durable plastic; these bottles are ultralight, compact and easy to carry in a sling or bum bag, which makes them ideal for long trips, hikes and for travellers looking to shave every possible ounce from their pack.

On top of that, flat and collapsible water bottles are often much more affordable, which is perfect for any traveller on a budget!

To help you choose the best option for all your city and outdoor adventures, today we’ll take a look at 7 amazing collapsible water bottles that you should check out in 2024!

Whether you’re hitting the trail, travelling or are just out and about for the day, the HydraPak Seeker 2L is a reliable, heavy-duty collapsible water bottle that is perfect for any activity!

Weighing only 2.6 oz (76g), the Seeker can be safely folded without ripping or breaking, allowing you to easily store it in your daypack without barely taking up any space. A practical nylon handle provides a better hold over the bottle, while additional lashing points allow you to secure the bottle to your pack by using carabineers.

The bottle is made of BPA and PVC-free TPU plastic that is abrasion resistant and elastic, which makes it durable enough to be used on even intensive treks. The Seeker is so tough it can even be frozen or used as a hot water bag during cold nights in the outdoors!

In order to provide you with safe drinking water in the wild, the Seeker is also compatible with any 42mm threaded water filter, which including HydraPak’s own 42mm filter. Travellers going on long excursion in the outdoors might even want to consider the version of this bottle that comes with an already integrated, replaceable filter.

Weight: 3.9 oz ∙ 110g

Volume: 1L (also available in 650ml)

Material: Plastic

This collapsible water bottle is one of the most versatile options available on the market. With an integrated, removable filter to safely collect water in the wild and light, durable materials, the  LifeStraw Peak 1L can just as easily be used for travelling and daily activities.

The LifeStraw Peak 1L only weighs 110g, and can be completely folded to become almost pocket sized; it can fold to an even smaller size when the integrated water filter is removed. A practical lashing point near the cap is a nice addition, as it allows you to secure the bottle to your pack by using a carabineer.

The bottle is made of BPA-free, ultra-tough flexible plastic, with a nice grippy texture that makes it easy to handle even with wet hands; all in all, it’s definitely heavy-duty enough to survive long excursions in the outdoors, although we did have one get pierced after an accidental drop which, admittedly, was our fault!

Like the Seeker, the Stow is also made of durable BPA and PVC-free TPU plastic, ensuring it survives all of your trips and activities. It can also be filled with hot water to warm you up during cold nights, or frozen to be used as an ice-pack!

Weight: 1.3 oz ∙ 36g

Volume: 2L

Material: Plastic, Nylon

The Platypus Platy 2L is an incredibly light, made in the USA collapsible water bottle that offers a huge water volume with almost no additional weight. This makes it one of the best choices for ultralight packers, whether they’re heading for the trail or the airport!

It does, however, lack any external lashing or attachment points, so it cannot be secured to the outside of a pack without a water bottle pocket.

The bottle is made of BPA-, BPS- and phthalate-free plastic; it’s well built and durable in material, but slightly less when compared to the other options on our list. With that said, we find it’s a fair compromise for how light this bottle is!

The Platy 2l is compatible with the brand’s own water filter, creating a lightweight and efficient water filtration system for all your outdoor adventures!
