Road trips are a great way to embark on a grand adventure without spending too much money on things like plane tickets but, unless you have a plan (and are willing to stick to it), it can still be easy to blow your budget!

If you’re trying to spend a set amount of money:
Start by dividing your vacation budget into categories, including all automotive fees (like gas and tolls), lodging, food, and any activities you might want to do, such as tickets for shows, or entry fees for national parks.
To truly get the most bang for your buck:
You can save a few dollars by choosing lodgings that offer complimentary snacks, coffee, breakfast, or happy hours.
Bring your own cooler full of refrigerated snacks and meals, along with bags of non-perishable goodies, and be sure to pack the utensils and containers you need to enjoy them!
